Yılbaşı Kutlaması!
Yılın artık son bir kaç günü kalmış, hem şu ‘lanet yıl’ geçsin diye bakarken, hemde ‘ay bu sene Yılbaşı nasıl’ olacak merakla bekliyoruz. Bence beklentisiz girmekte fayda var - sonuçta insan bilemiyor.
Yılbaşına nasıl giriyorsun diye soran olursa ben zaten genelde ailecek evde kutlamayı seven bir kişi olarak benim Yılbaşı kutlamam da çok bir şey değişmiyor - biraz yemek, biraz TV, biraz tombala, biraz hediye açmak derken 00:00 olucak bile.
Son bir kaça sene olduğu gibi Yılbaşı akşamını annem, babam ve tabikide sevgili kedilerimiz ile güzel bir akşam geçirmeyi planlıyorum. Her ne kadar önden hazırlık yapsamda, örn. Pie crust’ı bir gün önceden hazırlayıp dinlenmeye bırakmak, evi bir güzel temizleyip, düzenlemek ve hediyeleri kaplamak ve hazırlamak - insan yinede yoruluyor.
El alışkanlığından belki ama yemek en kolay tarafı oldu bu sene - mezeler annem ve babamdan, ana yemek ve tatlı benden olacak şekilde güzel bir iş bölümü yaptıktan sonra esas ne giyeceğiz ve entertainment kalıyor.
Şimdi malum kaç zamandır evdeyiz zaten, artık Yılbaşı modumu kaldı vs derken ben yinede dress up etmeyi tercih edenlerdenim - seneye nasıl girersen öyle devam ederse kafası belkide. Bir iki opsiyondan sonra beyaz Zara elbisesi ile girmeye karar verdim.
Geriye entertainment kaldı!
Bir gün önce, Amerika’dan yeni İstanbul’a taşınmış bir arkadaşa bizim Yılbaşı geleneklerimizi anlatırken Tombala oynadığımızı duyunca şaka mı yapıyorsun dedi - evet Amerika’ya göre daha yaşlı teyze/amcaların oynadığı bir oyun ama şimdi Yılbaşı tombalasız olur mu! Eskiden beri hiç şansım olmasada yinede acaba bari bir çinko tutturur muyum diye yinede oynamak lazım.
Artık nar hazır ve gece yarısını bekliyor ki bereketini 2021’e getirsin diye. Hepimiz için sağlıklı, birbirimize rahatlıkla sarılabileceğimiz bir sene olması dileğiyle. Şimdiden hoşgeldin 2021!
Happy New Year!
Now that we’re in the home stretch of the year, we’re all going between let’s finish up this ‘god forsaken’ year and how will this new year turn up. Personally I’m of a mind to not have expectations - it’s safer that way.
If you’re asking what I’m doing for NYE - it’s not too different from what I would normally be doing - a little food, a little TV, a little bing, a bit of opening presents and then it’s 00:00!
Like the past few years I’ll be hosting NYE for my parents and our lovely bunch of cats and have a jolly evening. As much as I try to do pre-planning like making the Pie Crust a day ahead, cleaning the house, wrapping up the presents I still get worn out by the 31st.
Maybe it’s because I’ve gotten used to it, making the food was the easiest part of this year. We made a wonderful agreement where my parents make the appetizers and I make the main course and desert. All that's left is what to wear and the entertainment.
Granted we’ve all been home more than usual and no one is necessarily in the NYE mood, but I’m of a mind to get dressed up and be festive! I’m going with the ‘it setting the tone for how you start the year’ mindset. With that after trying on a number of options I settled on this cute white Zara dress.
All that's left is the entertainment! Yesterday, a friend who just moved to Istanbul from CA asked what is traditional for Turkey for NYE and she was quite shocked to find out that Bingo is an irrevocable part of NYE. Sure it's a game more for retirees in the States but here it's a NYE staple. While I never have much luck at the game, I’m still going to play and hope to get some score at least.
Finally the pomegranate is ready and waiting to share its wealth in the new year for the stroke of midnight. I wish for a healthier new year where we can actually hug each other. Welcome 2021!
