Bayramda İstanbul
Bayramınız kutlu olsun! Kurban bayramı geldi, 10 günlük güzel de bir tatil için olasılık oldu ama diyelim ki sende herkes gibi Bayramda Bodrum/Çeşme/Marmaris yapmak yerine İstanbul’dasın! Şahsen ben bayramları İstanbul’da geçirmeyi tercih ediyorum - sanki şehre yeniden kavuşmuş gibi oluyorsun. Nefes alıp, İstanbul’un tadını çıkarta biliyorsun. Trafik yok gibi, istediğim tüm mekanlarda yer bulmak daha kolay - ama peki bu süreci nasıl geçirebilirsin?
Malum bayramın ilk günü çoğu yer kapalı - ama aynı zamanda bu çok güzel bir şans. Aileyle bayramlaşabilirsin, dinlenmek ve kafa dinlemek için ideal bir gün. Ama bayramın ikinci günü kendini at sokaklara derim.
Mesela bayramın ikinci gününü kültürsel bir gün kılıp normalde turistlerle dolu müzeleri gezebilirsin: Dolmabahçe Sarayı, Topkapı Sarayı, Arkeoloji Müzesi, vb. Mesela sabah güzel bir kahvaltıdan sonra Topkapı Sarayını ziyaret edip, muhteşem manzaralı Konyalı’da yemek yedikten sonra Arkeoloji müzesine gidip gezdikten sonra bahçesinde ağaçların altında oturup serinleyebilir ve çay keyfi yapabilirsin. Veya müze gezmekten haz etmiyorsan vapura binip (benim gibi Anadolu yakasında yaşıyorsan) biraz boğaz keyfi sürdükten sonra kendini Eminönü’ne atıp Kapalı Çarşı ve Mısır Çarşılarını gezebilirsin. Neler keşfedeceğini tahmin etmesi çok zor, çünkü malum yok yok. Sonrada Pandeli’de güzel bir yemek yiyebilirsin. Arada sırada yaşadığın şehirde turist olmak güzel oluyor.
Derken artık üçüncü gündesin - eh bir gün önce o kadar gezince bugün biraz dinlenmek ve serinlemek lazım - mesela şehirde o kadar güzel manzaralı havuzlar varki, birini seçip sabahtan gidip tam bir keyif günü yapabilirsin.
Boğaz manzarası istiyorsan Four Seasons Bosphorous’dan daha iyisi olamaz (hem mazara hem servis olarak), yok ben daha şehrin göbeğinde olmak istiyorum dersen Fairmont Quasar’ın havuzu ayrı bir keyifli oluyor. Ya da gündüz havuz, ama akşamda eğlenmek istiyorum dersen Swissotel Bosphorus’un havuzunda tüm gün serinledikten sonra 16 Roof’u tercih edebilirsin. Veya Anadolu yakasında yaşıyorum hiç karşıya geçemem diyorsan Wyndham Grand Kalamış’ın çok keyifli ve marina manzaralı havuzu var.
Ve bayramın son günü oldu bile diyelim - artık bundan sonrası tamamiyle keyiflik. Hazır şehir hala sakinken sevdiğin butikleri veya mağazaları gezmek için ideal bir gün olabilir. Hem sezonluk indirimler devam ediyor ama bayram öncesi yoğunluk olmadığı için daha rahat keyifle alışveriş yapabilirsin.

Holiday in the City
Happy Eid! So the holidays are here and you have the potential for a 10 day get-away but let's say that you’ve decided not to go to Bodrum/Cesme/Marmaris like everyone else and have decided to stay in Istanbul instead! I personally love staying in Istanbul during a holiday because it feels like you’ve just been in touch with a friend who’s been out of town for a really long time. You can actually breathe and enjoy the city. There is barely any traffic, it's easy to get a table at practically all the restaurants - but how do you get the most out of the city during this time?
Granted the first day of Eid almost all places are closed - but you can use this opportunity to get together with family, give those who don’t live nearby a call, or use this day to just rest up and recharge. But come the second day of the holiday I say go all out!
You can turn the second of the holiday into a cultural day and visit all the museums that are normally filled to the brim with tourists like Dolmabahçe Palace, Topkapı Palace, Istanbul Archeology Museum. Let’s say you have a leisurely breakfast to start off your day and then go to Topkapı Palace. After you’ve had your fill of visiting the harem head on over to Konyali to have a magnificent lunch with breathtaking views of the Golden Horn. Then meander down to the Archeology Museum and once you’ve wandered it’s halls, go back down to the gardens and cool in the shaded areas with a nice cup of tea. But let's say that you’re not a museum person, and if you live on the Anatolian side like me, hop on a ferry and cross to Eminönü and wander the Grand Bazaar - you never know what you’ll find. A trip to Eminönü wouldn’t be complete without lunch at Pandeli! There is something to be said about being a tourist in your hometown.
Then you’re on the third day of the holiday, and since you were so busy running around the day before, today would be the perfect day to rest up and chill. Since the city has a multitude of gorgeous outdoor pools it really is yours to pick. Let’s say you want breathtaking views of the Bosphorus and immaculate service, you can’t beat the Four Seasons Bosphorus. Or let’s say you want to chill but be in the midst of all of the hustle & bustle, then the Fairmont Quasar has another gorgeous pool with amazing views. If you want to spend the whole day poolside but you also want an evening of fun all in package then head on over to the Swissotel Bosphorus for an all day chill session by the pool and evening full of fun and views at 16 Roof. Or if you live on the Anatolian side and you really don’t want to cross a bridge then the Wyndham Grand Kalamis has a really great pool with great marina views.
Before you know it, it’s the last of the Eid holiday and today is yours to choose what to do with it. But since the city is still a bit quiet, now would be the perfect time to hit up some shops. The seasonal sales are still ongoing and since there are less crowds it's much easier to get better service and find your size and have fun.
But whatever you decide, don't forget to enjoy Istanbul during this quiet time as much as possible - since the crowds will be back any day!
