Sonunda sonbahar geldi
Nerdeyse sonbahar sezonunun sona gelsekde, sanki İstanbul’a sonbahar yeni geldi gibi. Hafif serinlemiş ama güneşli günler, yapraklar yavaş yavaş dönüyor ve dökülüyor - tam bir elma toplamalık bir gün aslında! Her ne kadar bu sene elma toplamaya gitmesemde o havayı nasıl yakalarım derken bol tarçınlı ve akçaağaç şuruplu elmalı bir kek yapim dedim. Bu tarihi ilk defa deniyordum ve güzel çıktı ama ikinci bir defa yaptığımda mutlaka birkaç ufak değişiklikler yapacağım kesin.
Kek fırındayken mini-balkabakları ve mumlarla evi süsledim, kanepenin yastık kılıflarını biraz daha ‘kış’ moduna değiştirdim, battaniyeleri çıkardım - eh ne de olsa önümüz kış artık.
Yanına birde güzel bir çay demlendikten sonra daha güzel bir sonbahar akşamı olabilir mi?
It’s Fall at last
While we’re nearing the end of Fall, the weather has just started to turn in Istanbul and now feels more like Fall than ever. The crisp sunny days with the turning leaves is just begging for an apple-picking day. While there is no apple picking this year I thought I would carry the sentiment and bake a nice cinnamon filled apple cake with maple syrup. It's my first time trying the recipe, and while I’ll definitely tweak a few things when I make it a second time it definitely hit the right note when finished.
While the cake was baking I put out my mini-pumpkins, tealight candles, swapped out my pillow covers on the couch for a more ‘wintery mood,’ took out throw blankets - winter is coming after all.
Brewing some tea to accompany my new cake - its setting up to be a perfect fall afternoon.
