Yaz Sezonu Sonunda Açıldı!
Kendim için resmi yaz sezonunu sonunda açtım! Bodrum’da 10 gün tam ihtiyacım olan şeymiş - hatta gidene kadar ne kadar ihtiyacım varmış haberim yokmuş. Geçen yaz hem pandemi rakamları daha yüksekken hem aşılama bu kadar hızlı olmadığı için, ben izolasyona devam etmiştim - hiç riske girmeye gerek yok diyerek. Ama biraz güneş ve denizin kendimizi yenilemek ve dengelemek için ne kadar iyi geldiğini (ve gerekli olduğunu) unutmuşum. İki sene oturduktan sonra sanki yeniden nefes alıyorum gibi geldi diyebilirim.
Her ne kadar ben şu an aşı olamasamda (son üç ay içinde Covid olduğum için) elimden geldiğince dikkatli olmaya çalıştım. Onun içinde uçmak yerine arabama atladım ve kendi başıma güzel bir araba yolculuğu yaptım. Şahsen araba yolculuğunu ben erken çıkmayı sevenlerdenim - güneşin doğmasını yolda araba içinden seyretmeye bayılırım. Bunun içinde sabahın 5’inde elimde kahvem, bagajda bavulum, müziğin sesi sonuna kadar açık bir şekilde yola koyuldum.
Öğlen saatine sonunda istikametime ulaşmıştım - Bodrum’un Göltürkbükü mevkii. Her ne kadar hava daha sezonsal sıcaklara ulaşmamış olsada huzurlu havası ve genel olarak herkesin ‘biz tatildeyiz’ modu sanki ruhumu sakinleştirdi.
Her ne kadar akşam saat 21:00 ve Pazar günü karantina kuralları biraz insanı tatilde zorlasada (malum normalde Bodrum akşamları 21:00’den sonra başladığı için) hem klasik ve favori mekanları ziyaret ettik, hemde yeni açılan bir kaç yere gittik - benim bu sezon için favorim Swim Club oldu.
Genel olarak pandemi döneminde Türkbükü’ne daha rahat bir vibe vermiş - her zamanki şık ve göz kamaştırıcı havası devam ediyor ama biraz daha içten, biraz daha rahatlamış bir his olduğu kesin. Yinede bu sezon için açılan bir sürü yeni mekan sayesinde yüksek enerjisini koruyor.

I finally, officially, opened the summer season for myself!
10 days in Bodrum, one of the highlights of the Turkish riviera, was exactly what I needed (that I didn’t know how much I actually needed). While a lot of people went on vacation last summer, I chose to continue isolation and not risk it when the vaccine wasn’t readily available and we didn’t know as much as we do now about the pandemic. But I didn’t realize how much a little sun and time in the sea helps us recalibrate ourselves and brings us joy. And what joy it gave me - it felt like coming up for fresh air after being bogged down for two years.
Since I’m still not able to be vaccinated (I had Covid within the last 3 months) I tried to be as careful as possible. With that rather than flying, I jumped in my car and had a mini-road trip all by myself. I personally love a really early beginning so that I can watch the sunrise while driving - so armed hot coffee and I turned on the music to as high as it goes, and hit the road!
By noon I had reached my destination - the peaceful Golturkbuku area of Bodrum! While the weather hadn’t quite warmed up to season highs, the peacefulness, and the general sense of “we’re all on vacation” mood was more welcome than expected.
While the evening and Sunday restrictions were a bit of a mood killer (because let's face it, the evenings in Bodrum start after 9pm) - we had a chance to explore some much loved spots, and also try some new places that were just opening up like Swim Club (which has definitely become a favorite place of mine right away). The pandemic definitely gave the Turkbuku area a bit more of a laid-back feel, still glamorous and glitzy but a bit more sincere, a bit more relaxed feel was definitely in the air. And with all of the new places opening up for the summer season the air is absolutely buzzing with energy.
If you haven’t yet, I hope you will have a chance to escape and breathe again - some with the benefit of going on vacation, and some with the semi-relief of getting vaccinated. Here is to a wonderful summer full of positive possibilities.
