Yeni Başlangıçlara…
Mart ayına girer girmez sanki bahar hemen gelmiş gibi oluyor. Çoğu insan gibi geçen Mart ayından beri evlere kapanınca gelen bahar ve yeni normalleşmeler dahilinde dünya sanki yeniden yavaş yavaş açılıyor. Sizi bilmem ama hem değişen sezona hemde gelecek olasılıklar için heyecanlıyım - üstüne üstlük bugün Dr. Seuss günü.
Türkiye’de Dr. Seuss kitapları çok bilinmiyor ve bende zaten yaşım biraz büyümüş olsada ilk Amerika’ya gittiğim zaman okumaya başlamıştım. Ama farklı hikayeleri ve verdiği mesajlarla en kısa zamanda favori yazarlarından biri olmuştu - özellikle de Oh, The Places You’ll Go kitabı. Lisedeyken (Westtown School) tüm son sınıflar ‘Senior Proje’lerine çıkmadan önce bize bu kitabı okurlardı - dünyaya ilk adımlarımızı atarken bir hazırlık gibi. Belki de bu güzel hatıradan mıdır nedir, bu kitabın yeri bende hep farklıdır.
Bu güzel hikaye ile verdiği pozitif mesajları beni hep teşvik etmiştir. Tabikide hepimizin önüne zaman zaman zorluklar çıkıyor ama mühim olan kendimizi bu zorlukları aşmak için çaba sarf etmemiz ve eninde sonunda başarılı olmamız.
Biliyorum hepimiz için zor bir sene geçirdik (çok farklı konular yüzünden) ama Mart’ın ve baharın gelmesiyle güzel değişiklikleri dört gözle bekliyorum. Belki moda ayının getirdiği yenilikler olsun, belki baharların açması veya aşılanan insan sayısının artışı olsun bence biz bu işi becereceğiz - Dr. Seuss’un dediği gibi % 98 3/4 eminim.

To new beginnings….
As soon as we enter March it feels like spring is just around the corner and the time to shake off the cobwebs. Though most of us have been home since practically last March due to the pandemic, it feels like the world is a breath away from opening up again. I’m looking forward to the changing seasons and looking at all of the possibilities. Interestingly today is also Dr Seuss day.
While I didn’t grow up reading Dr Seuss until I moved to the States - his quirky stories soon became some of my favorites - especially Oh, the Places You’ll Go. My high school (Westtown School) would always read out loud this book to the seniors right before we ventured out on our senior projects (to take on the world). It’s maybe because of that, that this particular one has a special spot for me.
Together with the beautiful winding story, I always loved its positive encouragement. Sure, we all stumble every now and then (maybe more so now) but it’s always up to us to get ourselves out of a sticky spot and keep looking forward, because we’re assured success (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed).
With that I know we’ve all had a rough year but I’m hopeful for a positive change with the new season. Whether it's the newly wrapping up Fashion Month, or flowers blooming, or vaccinations getting underway - I’m 98 and ¾ percent sure that we’re going to be fine.
