Aralık Ayına girerken…
Artık senenin son birkaç haftası bakalım neler getirecek derken birazda festive olmanın tam zamanı.
Bence herkesin bir ‘pick-me-up’a ihtiyacı olduğu bu zamanda Holiday sezonu kadar güzel birşey olamaz. Tabii gönül ister birkaç Christmas market’a gidebilmek, yılbaşı üstü yurt dışına gidip tam bir Christmas havası almak ama bu sene hayat biraz daha farklı geçince bazı gelenekler daha ağır basıyor.
Gelsin Yılbaşı ağacı ve süsleri, gelsin Michael Buble’nin Christmas albümü, ve gelsin Zara Home’un Gingerbread mumları! Aralık ayı boyunca olmazsa olmazları (en azından benim için)! Eminim herkesin kendine has gelenekleri vardır ama benim Aralık’ta mutlaka yaptıklarım, ilk hafta sonu ağacı kurmakla başlar. Bu sene bir değişiklik olsun diye gerçek çam ağacı alıp süsleyim dedim. Doğrusunu söylemek gerekirse mavi ladin ağacının iğnelerinin ne kadar sivri olduğunu unutmuşum ama her sene olduğu gibi Gingerbread mumumu yaktım, bir taraftan Michael Buble’nin o kadifemsi sesi Christmas şarkıları söylerken, kedilerle beraber güzel güzel ağacı dekore ettik galiba. Ağacı ben mi yoksa Aşkım Aşkım’mı daha çok seviyor bilmiyorum ama her sene olduğu gibi evimize güzel bir hava kattığı kesin.
Şimdi ağaç kuruldu, şöminenin üstü süslendi, kapıya çelenk asıldı! Şimdi hediye aramaya başlamak kaldı! Birde benim için olmazsa olmazım - ağacı kurduğum akşam The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe seyretmek olur. Tam bir holiday filmi değil belki ama benim için artık tam bir gelenek haline gelmiş bir film. Bence bu güzel aya güzel bir başlangıç!
As we go into December….
I can’t believe it's already December. Now that we’re in the home stretch of the year it’s time to be festive! I think we could all use a “pick-me up” during this time and there is nothing better than the Holiday season for that. Now it would be wondrous to wander around Christmas markets, travel abroad and soak in that Christmas spirit but since life looks a bit different this year other traditions are coming to the fore-front.
So bring on the Christmas tree and ornaments, bring on Michael Buble’s Christmas album and bring on Zara Homes Gingerbread scented candles! My must-haves for December! Now I’m sure everyone has their own Holiday traditions but my first is setting up the tree during the first weekend of December. But this year I decided to change it up a bit and instead of setting up my pre-lit artificial tree, I thought I would go for a live Christmas tree. To be honest, I forgot how sharp needles of a blue spruce tree can be just like I do every year, I light my Gingerbread candle, put on Michael Buble’s Christmas album and while singing along, we decorated the tree with my lovely cat assistants. I’m not who loves the tree more, Askim Askim (my oldest kitty) or myself but it definitely brings a beautiful presence into our home.
Now that the tree is set up, the fireplace is decorated and the wreath is hung up on the door - it's time to start hunting for presents! Another “must” for me is watching The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe the night I set up the tree. I don’t know if I would strictly categorize the movie as a holiday movie but it’s my own little tradition. With that I think it's a pretty good start to the last month of the year.
