Bahar Resmen Geliyor
Bahar sezonu resmi olarak bu hafta geliyor bile, ve hazır gelmeden bahar temizliğine başlamak için muhteşem bir zaman. Bir Martha Stewart veya Home Edit değilim belki ama benimde derinlemesine temizlik ve organizasyon için bir iki püf noktam var. Ben normalde odadan odaya 3 adım ile ilerlemeye çalışıyorum - bu şekilde tükenmeden evi bitirmiş oluyorum. Yoksa direk sona kalan işler bir çekmecenin içine itiliyor ve bir sonraki seneye kadar unutuluyor.
İlk önce arınmayı tercih ediyorum - bu vesileyle tüm kıyafetler, güzellik malzemeleri, baharat dolabı, çarşaf dolabı vede özellikle junk drawer için ideal bir çözüm oluyor. Mesela son iki senede hiç giymediğin veya kullanmadığın bir eşyan varsa, büyük bir ihtimalle yakın zamanda tekrar kullanmayacaksındır. İyi durumdaysa direk bağış için ayır derim, ama biraz aşınma, delik vs varsa geri dönüşüm için - kumaş/kıyafetleri bile. Mesela H&M’in çok güzel bir kumaş geri dönüşüm programı var - hemde yeni sezon için indirim kuponu veriyorlar. Tutmaya karar verdiğin eşyaların için ne durumdalar diye bak - üzerine hala oluyor mu, terziye gitmeye ihtiyacı var mı? Aynısını ayakkabıların ve güzellik malzemelerin için yap.
Sonrasında derinlemesine temizlik - eşyalarını didikledikten sonra daha az temizlenen alanları iyice silme zamanı - dolaplarının içi ve dışı. Ne kadar toz ve kir çıkacaktır inanmayacaksın. Bu arada perdelerin yıkanması, yatağını ters-yüz yapmak için muhteşem bir olanak. Ben olsam arabamı bile derinlemesine yıkatırım. Ayrıca klima ünitesi için servis çağırıp filtresi, motor vs temizletirim - ne de olsa önümüz yaz. Son olarak mutfağa gir derim: buzdolabı, buzluk, baharat ve erzak dolapların - içlerini boşalt, didikle ve temizledikten sonra yeniden yerleştir.
Tüm temizliğini yaptıktan sonra işin en eğlenceli kısmına geliyoruz - değişen sezon için hazırlık! Eğer teras veya balkonun varsa şimdiden kurmaya başla derim. Bak bakalım nelerin var, eksik var mı, değişmesi veya yenilenmesi gereken eşya. Geçtiğimiz zamanda bu kadar eve tıkandıktan sonra temiz hava alabileceğimiz en ufak alan bile iyice önemli hale geldi. Ama tabii birde evin içine bakmak lazım, mesela kışlık kadife kırlentlerini keten ikat desene geçmek için güzel bir zaman. Meselan faux fur battaniyeni yazlık bahar örgülü bir battaniye ile değiştirebilirsin. Ayrıca hala yılbaşı temalı dekoratif aksesuarların dışardaysa onları daha sezonluk aksesuarlar ile değiştirmek için güzel bir zaman.
Time for Spring Cleaning
Since spring is officially right around the corner, this is a perfect week to get started on your spring cleaning. Now I’m no Martha Stewart or the Home Edit but I do have a few tricks to get through spring cleaning without going nuts. I try to do it in 3 steps and room-by-room so that I’m not worn out or by the time I’m down to the last bit things don’t get thrown into a drawer and forgotten.
I would suggest Decluttering first - a chance to go through everything you have, clothes, makeup, spices, and especially your catch-all / junk drawer. If you haven’t used it in the past 2 years (pandemic included) chances are you won’t be reaching for it anytime soon - so sort it, if in good condition donate and if not try to find a recycling program. Especially for fabrics/torn clothes and such H&M has a wonderful fabric recycling program - you also end up getting a discount coupon to use on new items. Then for clothes you’ve chosen to keep, try them on - do they need altering, repairs. For season clothes it may be the perfect time to send them off to dry cleaning and slowly start to put away. Do the same for shoes and especially your beauty cabinet - make sure that you’re not holding onto expired products.
Then start with Deep Cleaning - once you’re sorting through things, it’s the perfect time to wipe down those areas we rarely clean - inside your closet and cabinets. Wipe them down inside & out - you won’t believe how much grime there is. It’s also the perfect time to wash your curtains, maybe rotate your mattress and wash your liners. Definitely get your car wash - for a deep clean. If you can’t get a professional to clean out your AC units - let's face it warmer weathers are just around the corner, and we’ll be turning them on relatively soon. Also I would use this time to really clean out the kitchen - fridge, freezer, spice cabinet and pantry: take everything out, sort through and clean before organizing to put them back.
Once you’ve cleaned and sorted your heart out, here comes the fun part - changing things up for the changing season. If you have a terrace or balcony, it’s the perfect time to start settings up, but first look through what you have, does anything need to be resealed, repainted or repaired. After being cooped up all this time, even a small space to get some fresh air is more valuable and necessary then ever! Once inside, look to changing up your throw pillows - maybe change out the velvet covers for lighter ikat prints and linen. Change out your faux fur throw for a lighter knit throw in a bright color instead. Also if you have any winter seasonal decor still out, now might be the perfect time to switch them out and replace them with brighter accessories.
